About Ready to Learn
What is Ready To Learn?
As part of our goal to get kids "ready to learn," KVIE's Ready To Learn program is helping parents, teachers, childcare providers, and other caregivers throughout the Central Valley use public television resources to help children love learning.
KVIE's Ready To Learn program builds partnerships with community organizations such as child care centers, schools, libraries, businesses, civic groups, and government agencies.
To extend the educational impact of KVIE's Ready To Learn programs "beyond the screen," KVIE's Ready To Learn program:
-Conducts training workshops to help parents, teachers, childcare providers, and caregivers use TV as a positive force in children's lives through music, art, reading and discussion.
-Collaborates with local partner organizations like Head Start, Even Start, community action agencies, libraries and childcare resource & referral centers, and national producers of children's programs such as Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, Sesame Street, and Arthur.
-Includes the Ready To Learn book program, which distributes free books to disadvantaged children.
